This was the first of  four such Reports.  It was the only one done using old technology  - that is the photos, cartoons,  etc were cut out and pasted onto the background .

The Circus of Liberty : The Script  Once upon a time, there was a small village in which everyone wore a heart pinned on their chest; and where everyone wore a hat with long, long plaits of many different colours dangling down. The village was called The Village of Hearts and Plaits.

Second Sight was based on using photography to get people to look again.  It came in two parts - part 1 was  events around the City and part 2  was photographic games played with young people in 4 different playschemes.  This is a description of part two - although there are good descriptions of the games, we have very little in the way of photographs. The Idea The summer of 1983 saw a variation - but in some ways also a continuation - on that year’s Easter Play Scheme theme of wool and weaving. The summer’s Play Scheme took the theme of spiders and their own weaving techniques. The theme proved to be very fruitful with a total of over 4,000 attendances over 54 sessions and some truly innovative takes on the spider theme.

Action Space was a Company, based in London,  which started at around the same time as the Blackie. It roots lay in the visual arts. It was set up by Mary and Ken Turner, their friends and artists who shared their concerns about the role of the arts in society. Anyone who is interested in Community Arts should read Mary Turner's  book 'Action Space Extended'  which charts the history of the Company and its many manifestations.

Home is Where The Art Is was the theme for the 1995 Summer playscheme. There is comparatively little paperwork on this playscheme. There is a short report and a time-table which lists a whole range of activities on which we have no further information. Workshops Baking

Intro The majority of Themed Playschemes have been written up specifically for the Archive Website. This is not the case with 'Liverpool Firsts'.  Below is a Report which was written at the time.   It is unaltered apart from the condensing of some of the statistical information which in the original runs to several pages.

Merseyside Firsts Summer Tour  The idea was an expansions from the 1986 playscheme 'Liverpool Firsts.'  In this instance the idea was to take young people on visits to places where there had been a Merseyside First and make a video illustrating  it.
