The Policy for the Blackie Gallery included a commitment to showing artists who have traditionally found it more difficult to find outlets for their work - this included woman artist and artists from minority groups - so Black British artists, disabled artists, etc.
As part of this policy we exhibited textile works. This genre of work is usually created by women and too often defined as craft rather than art.
The work ranged from Banners to hats. From the political to the humorous. On the following pages are descriptions of the individual exhibitions. Below you will find a slide show covering all the textile works.
