In Alfred Hitchcock's films, what he called the MacGuffin  -  such as the secret papers which the spies are after  -     is the engine which sets the story in motion.  But in terms of the drama, the actual nature of the MacGuffin is of no importance whatsoever.

The Vigil The Framework Alastair MacLennan created a chequered board made up of  black and white squares on the ground floor of the basement.  Above this he hung a network of strings each culminating in a suspended nightlight.

3-10pm Kevin Rowan's & Nicky Dewison's Party (for Blackie regulars aged 12 and under). We know that 'The Party' included a puppet theatre, a Clown who did magic and comedy, a disco and of course food and a birthday cake.  What is less clear is the actual running order of events, so below is an educated guess. 3pm - 4.30pm Cartoon Film show, Puppet Theatre and Comedy/Magic.

Stephen Knox and Jimmy Tagoe created the last of the three parties. The Programme 12pm - 2pm   Pat Rodaway : guitar and song - in the Gallery.  Pat Rodaway had been coming to the Blackie since he was a young lad.  He performed on the gallery stage but currently we do not have any  photos of this. 2pm   Tommy Jones :  Goyararu Karate - in the basement

The Rainbow Dinner Party took place at the Blackie on Sunday 5th October 1980. This was the second Rainbow evening, the first was a celebration at the end of installing the Inner City Rainbows.
