The promotion of contemporary music at the Blackie is a good example of how the Blackie approaches its cultural programming, Firstly it is of its time - the Blackie promotes modern works across the art forms. Secondly it reflects the interests of the artists who worked there. Thirdly we built relationships with specific artists who then visited us on more than one occasion, and finally the artists not only performed but usually ran workshops, including workshops for young people.
